Civil unrest, looting and arson on an unprecedented scale - Our Beloved South Africa has been shaken to its core these last few weeks.
People have been arrested, some injured and worst of all - over a hundred have lost their lives. We’ve witnessed widespread panic-buying at food outlets still standing and long queues at fuel stations for fear of fuel shortages. The security forces who were overwhelmed at first had to stand by and watch as the looting and burning continued unabated.
Armed civilian groups sprang up to assist the police and set up roadblocks and patrols to protect their neighbourhoods.
But then something miraculous happened... Ordinary people started praying and worshipping God in the streets, among the burnt-out shopping centres and storage units. Heartwarming stories began to emerge of people, ordinary everyday people helping to clean up the mess and sharing their food with those who didn’t have any.
We stood up from the ashes, joined our hearts and hands and united as one... Is this the revival we’ve been praying for?
