Couches and Relationships

February 17, 2022 • Rachel Barrentine • Psalm 131:2

SCRIPTURE
Psalm 131:2 ESV But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me.

NUGGET
I wonder how many times the Lord just wants to sit with me on a couch with no agenda. I’m always thinking about what He wants me to do, say or accomplish. In these moments I often feel a tug to run instead of rest. Our time with the Lord doesn’t have to be full of words. We can sit on a couch in front of a fireplace with a cup of tea and soak in the moment. We are human beings before we are human doings. Will you step out of the weary-cycle? Rest. Enjoy the quiet with God. If He speaks, write it down. If He doesn’t, just enjoy being with Him.

ACTIVATION
Grab your favorite beverage, find a comfy couch or chair, and set a timer for 10 minutes. Then let the Lord love on you. Don’t worry about accomplishing anything or having words to say. Simply invite Papa, Jesus, and Holy Spirit to be with you. Take deep breaths and bask in God’s presence today.

PRAYER
Thank You, Holy Spirit, for Your presence. Remind me to enjoy moments of just being together. I’m so glad You enjoy my presence. You enjoy spending time with me. What a thought! Thank You for Your love. In Jesus name, Amen.
