Pray, Don't Prey

SCRIPTURE
Psalm 19:14 NIV May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

NUGGET
Ok confession. Sometimes I get annoyed and evaluate another’s behavior, attitude, or motive based on my own judgments. I don’t know why that critical voice has been louder lately, but it has. As I brought this up to God, He said, “Pray, don’t prey.” When I want to prey on someone’s weakness, complain about their inadequacy, or zoom in on a failure…I need to pray for them instead. Celebrate instead of curse. Everyone has weaknesses. I want people to pray for me, not prey on me. The next time you feel the urge to pounce on someone: pray, celebrate, and bless instead. And if you have preying people in your life instead of praying people, you may need to upgrade your friendships!

ACTIVATION
Think of 1-3 people you may be frustrated with, and release God’s blessing and favor on them. Write out these prayers or speak them out today. Blessing cancels the voice of criticism. Complaining is a downhill habit that picks up momentum quickly. So crush it with blessing and celebration.

PRAYER
Papa, remind me today to choose blessing instead of cursing, and celebration instead of frustration. Thank You for pouring out Your limitless blessings on me. Holy Spirit, I invite you to give me Your words of blessing today. In Jesus name, Amen.
