Pain and Promises

SCRIPTURE
John 16:33 NLT I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

NUGGET
It’s fairly easy to trust God when we are experiencing the fulfillment of His good promises. But when things are dark, when we’re waiting for breakthrough, trust becomes harder to implement. How much pain can God trust you with? Suffering is not God’s heart towards us, but sometimes He allows it for a time because there is a redemptive purpose or process He is moving in that we don’t see or understand. Will you allow God to show up for you in the midst of your pain or postponed promises? We all experience some trouble in this life, but we never have to face it alone. Allow God’s powerful presence to lead you through the pain into your promised land.

ACTIVATION
If there is an area of pain in your life, let go of the “why” for a moment, and ask the Lord “what” He wants you to know about your situation. Linger with Him, and write down any thoughts He brings to mind.

PRAYER
Jesus, thank You for being the God who feels my pain. You are moved by my suffering. There is no pain I am going through that You have not already experienced. You carry me, and care for me as I walk through painful seasons. Hallelujah!
