SCRIPTURE
John 13:14 NIV Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.

NUGGET
When we think of serving Christ, we often think of serving in our local church or in some kind of structured ministry. There are lots of Biblical examples of serving in this way that we are to follow. But when Jesus washed the disciples’ feet, He showed us that we are to serve in ordinary and even menial ways, too. When I realized that doing laundry and making meals for my family were just as God honoring as my work as a worship leader, it helped me slow down and see the bigger picture more clearly…that our highest calling is to love God and love people whether we’re on the platform or at the kitchen table.

ACTIVATION
What are the things that you do to help others that seem ordinary and menial in your everyday life? Instead of rushing through them, pace yourself, do them well and know that you are honoring God in them!

PRAYER
Father, thank you for helping me see that serving You is woven into the fabric of my life, in the every day, in every person’s life You bring me into contact with. May every word I speak and work I do be in Your name, O Lord. Amen.
