SCRIPTURE
I Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
NUGGET
Sometimes this scripture feels like a pretty tall order. Be joyful....always? Be thankful in ALL circumstances? Yes! This is exactly what we need to do, especially in difficult seasons because there are promises tied to these verses. When we keep our joy in the Lord, strength comes (Nehemiah 8:10). When we pray, we are talking with a faithful Father who promises to never leave us (Psalm 23:4). When we are thankful, we remember that God is in control, that He is moving in our behalf (Romans 8:28). When we do these things, we are able to keep the right perspective in the midst of our problems.
ACTIVATION
In your journal, write down a problem you are facing in the form of a prayer. Pour out your heart to Him and ask Him to meet your needs. After that, spend a few minutes praising Him. Then thank Him for His provision, strength and love for you. How does this change the way you think about your problem?
PRAYER
Thank you for being so near, God. For hearing the cries of my heart. For never leaving me. For restoring my joy as I fix my eyes on You. Amen.
