One Word Meditation

SCRIPTURE
Hebrews 4:12 NASB For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

NUGGET
When we engage with the Word, we are interacting with something that is alive and active. The words in the Bible aren’t just concepts we should seek to understand and live by. The Word does surgery on our hearts, reveals things to us and guides us forward. So it’s important to take our time with it when we read it. One thing that slows me down and helps me hear from the Spirit is taking a scripture and reading it aloud several times, emphasizing a different word each time. “GOD so loved the word that He gave His only begotten Son….” “God SO loved the world….” “God so LOVED the world…” “God so loved the WORLD…” and so on (John 3:16). It brings a new light to the Word. Often when I do this, there's one word that I emphasize that stops me in my tracks and God speaks to my heart.

ACTIVATION
Take 10 minutes today and choose a verse that you love. Speak it outloud several times, emphasizing a different word each time. Be sensitive to how the Lord is speaking to your heart. Write what He says in your journal.

PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your Word that is true and unchanging. Help me to hear what You have to say to me as I read it and put it in my heart.
