God created humanity in his own image—there was nothing evil, missing, or deficient. Thus, Adam and Eve were complete and fully sufficient in their relationship with their Creator. But, after the Fall, humanity no longer found sufficiency in God’s love alone. Instead of living from God’s acceptance and love, we live for acceptance and love outside of God through appearance, achievement, status, etc. The consequence is a distorted self-image (identity) that results in pain and fear. But, the way to freedom from the pain and fear of a distorted self-image is to believe that you are who God say you are.
