Stand in the Gap Weekend Archives

Unity Without a Biblical Worldview?

It's almost a week after the elections and one thing's for certain, we have a divided government. The Republicans hold the Senate while the Democrats control the House. As our Founders would have it, this balance of power, so to speak, is representative of our Republic-where people have the right to vote on their elected representatives. And the people certainly responded this election with record turnouts and not a few twists along the way . But the outcome can’t hide the fact that we are, in fact, a divided nation. The tally is almost half and half-like the two sides of a coin, different and yet part of the whole. Is there hope for unity? Our guest, George Barna, joins the program to talk about the only solution to bring about true unity. Host: Sam Rohrer Co-host: Dr. Gary Dull.

From Murder to Marches, the Truth DOES Matter

November 4, 2018 • Sam Rohrer, Michele Bachmann

Today’s urgent news quickly becomes tomorrow’s recycled headlines. The information cycle changes at an astonishingly rapid pace and before we know it, we’re left wondering what ever happened to a particular story or person that dominated media attention for such a short period of time. Indeed, staying on top of what's happening around the world is a monumental task. To help us understand three current events-the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, Ambassador Nikki Haley's resignation, and the immigrant caravan headed for the US, is former Congresswoman and Presidential Candidate, Michele Bachmann. She'll offer an analysis from a biblical world view perspective and her valuable experience gained during her time working in Washington, DC. Host: Sam Rohrer Co-hosts: Dave Kistler, Dr. Gary Dull

Defeating the Darkness: Our Most Powerful Weapon

Stand in the Gap Weekend • October 28, 2018

The Bible tells us that we’re in a battle-a spiritual warfare that we can’t see with our eyes yet it’s as real and deadly as any physical conflict. This Stand in the Gap Weekend program theme is: Defeating the Darkness: Our Most Powerful Weapon. Guests Peggy Nienaber with Faith and Action Ministries and Keith Davidson with Seedline international join the broadcast to talk about that weapon: the effectual fervent prayers of God's people. Host: Dave Kistler

Beyond Kavanaugh, an Endoscopy of the American culture.

October 21, 2018

An endoscopy is a procedure by which a doctor uses a special instrument to look deep into the body's internal parts presumably to find the cause of pain or illness. This week's program will take a dive into our culture to assess the fallout following the Kavanaugh hearings. While we survived the fiasco, is our moral and political situation better or worse? And if worse, is there a cure? Guest Dr. Alex McFarland joins the program to offer an analysis and give insight into the greatest need in our country today. Host: Sam Rohrer Co-host: Dr. Gary Dull

Women at Risk: Reclaiming Victims of Sex Trafficking

September 24, 2018

Did you know that sex trafficking here in the United States is a 32 billion dollar industry? By comparison, Americans spend a little more than 25 billion on professional sports. If those statistics didn’t shock you, they should. While you might think slavery ended with the Civil War, the truth is that it’s alive and well-not just overseas-but right in our own communities and back yards. Becky McDonald with Women At Risk International, takes us behind to the scenes to uncover how the slave labor and sex trafficking trades have morphed into a monster that threatens to engulf our inner cities and even rural America. Her powerful testimony reveals that the church can no longer stay silent or remain on the sidelines on this issue. In fact, the Bible clearly indicates the responsibility and reward of the righteous when they rise up in defense of the oppressed and helpless. Host: Pastor Isaac Crockett Co-host: Sam Rohrer

Separation of Church from State

October 14, 2018

While the Founders never envisioned the so-called Separation of Church and State as defined by many today, we know that the church, sanctioned by Scripture, is to have a great deal of influence on the affairs of state. It’s not to be aloof or ignorant of what’s happening in society nor is it to seek power or anything other than the protection and propagation of truth. Yet many have these concepts confused-so will explain why there’s a legitimate separation of powers in government, the function of both the government and the church, and how the two can work together, hand-in-hand, to provide a place where citizens can live godly, peaceable lives. In these times when the lines are muddied, the church is divided and our government is in chaos, let’s get back to the basics of God’s Word and the Constitution of our great nation.

Big Brother in the Exam Room

October 7, 2018 • Sam Rohrer, Dave Kistler, Twila Brase

As Americans, we assume that when visiting a doctor, our conversation, symptoms and treatment will remain private. After all, HIPAA laws protect our most sensitive personal information, right? Not so fast! This weekend program guest Twila Brase, Co-founder and President of the Citizens Council for Health and Freedom, is going to reveal just how must the electronic health record system is destroying our privacy, and hence, our freedom. We'll hear what the HIPAA laws truly accomplish and why government oversight into healthcare just isn't a good thing. Host: Sam Rohrer Co-host: Dave Kistler

The Surveillance State and the Russia Connection

October 1, 2018 • Sam Rohrer, Dave Kistler, Mark Lerner

The Bible tells us that during the end times, a world-wide leader called “The Beast” will decree that all people worship him and receive a mark in their forehead or on their hand to be able to buy and sell. This prophecy written in Revelation chapter 13 makes it clear that war will be declared on those who refuse the mark of the beast, and they will be killed. This program will discuss how biometrics- the process of using physical and behavioral characteristics such as fingerprints, facial and voice recognition, to verify one’s identity could quite possibly be the means by which the Beast will institute his reign of terror on the Saints of God during the time of Tribulation. Mark Lerner with the Constitutional Alliance will be sharing some very eye-opening information about the attempts of our enemies to obtain biometrics on all Americans using our very own system of Voter ID against us. Host: Sam Rohrer, Co-host: Dave Kistler

The Intersection of Biblical Prophecy and Politics

September 16, 2018 • Gary Dull, Jimmy DeYoung, Sam Rohrer, Dave Kistler, Paul Blair

September 13th marks the 25th anniversary of the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians known as the Oslo accords. We know this to be a failed operation, but things may be changing in the not too distant future! The newly proposed peace deals from the Trump administration are only one of the developments taking place in the Middle East that we’ll be exploring as we take a look at the intersection of biblical prophecy and politics. We’ll consider why our Founding fathers understood the relevant nature of the relationship between our new nation and God’s chosen people on an individual and national level, and then we’ll highlight some of the current events in light of biblical prophecy. And if you’re wondering whether or not the United States will participate in end times events-well-you’ll want to hear from our guests, Dr. Jimmy DeYoung and Pastor Paul Blair! Host: Sam Rohrer Co-hosts: Dave Kistler, Dr. Gary Dull

The Failed Self-Esteem Movement

September 9, 2018

Phillippians 2: 3 says, "Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory, but in lowliness of mind, let each esteem others better than themselves." The idea of putting others first is difficult to say the least, yet it's the biblical test of true humility. The truly humble man is readily able to forgive, to be kind even when mistreated, and to extend grace in the most trying of circumstances. Yet the self-esteem movement and behavioral modification techniques popularized in the late 1960's-70's neglected this necessary character quality and traded it in for a self-centered, inward focused, pleasure seeking ideology that produced a generation of confused adults raising children who are even more confused about their self-worth, the role of authority, and the meaning to life. Dr. Alex McFarland, author, speaker, radio host, and apologist is featured on this recorded broadcast as he discusses the destructive psychology of the self-esteem movement, the unfortunate role of the church in its success, and the rebuilding of what's been broken by recognizing where our true self worth comes from and what the Bible has to say about where the proper motivation for right behavior begins. Host: Sam Rohrer Co-host: Pastor Isaac Crockett

What's Happening to America: Connecting the Dots

August 26, 2018

When the Pharisees and Sadducees asked Jesus to give them a sign from heaven to prove he was the prophesied Messiah, he replied, “When it is evening, ye say, it will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, it will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?” Jesus chided the religious leaders of the day for their lack of discernment in understanding the prophetical fulfillment of the times in which they lived. May the same not be said of us. As followers of Jesus Christ, we can rest assured that all that’s happening around us isn’t a surprise to God. Yet we mustn’t bury our heads in the sand and willingly be ignorant of the issues and events that affect our lives here and now. In this program, our guest, Michele Bachman, former Congresswoman and Presidential Candidate, will help us connect some of what's happening both at home and abroad within the biblical, prophetical framework for the times in which we live. Host: Sam Rohrer Co-host: Isaac Crockett

Our First and Second Amendment Freedoms Under Fire

August 19, 2018 • Sam Rohrer, David New

The U.S. Constitution guarantees our civil and religious freedoms. It's considered the highest authority of our land, under God, that is. Until now. Enemies of freedom use the weapons of political correctness, censorship, judicial activism, identity politics and a host of other ill-conceived notions to try and silence the voice of truth. Thankfully, this current administration understands the threat and is working to protect and promote the liberties we hold dear. Constitutional Attorney David New joins the program as guest to offer insight into two recent endeavors which took place at home and abroad. Host: Sam Rohrer

Missions to Politicians

August 12, 2018 • Isaac Crockett, Sam Rohrer, Perry Gauthier

You might think that sharing the gospel on Capitol Hill is a no-no, but Perry Gauthier with Capitol Ministries knows from experience that the opposite is true. Politicians are ordinary, sometimes lonely, people who experience the same struggles and ask the same questions about life that we do. Founders, Ralph and Danielle Drollinger, made it their mission to reach out with applicable biblical truths and caring relationships to those in office through the outreach of Capitol Ministries. Find out how they're changing lives in state capitols across the nation and around the world! Host: Pastor Isaac Crockett Co-host: Sam Rohrer Guest: Perry Gauthier

What in the World is Going On?

August 5, 2018

The Bible tells us that when we're saved, we become "new creatures in Christ". The old things have passed away, and all has become new (II Cor. 5:17) . The slave master of sin has been defeated and the new Master of grace rules and reigns. So wouldn't it be strange that a believer would wish to be identified with the sins that defined his or her old way of life? Unfortunately, there's a new movement within the evangelical community to integrate the "gay Christian" into the church. To help us understand this serious situation affecting the church, is Tom Littleton, Pastor, apologist and author/blogger. Also, Jeremy Samek with the Independence Law Center (PA Family Institute) joins the program to give an update on the Pittsburgh couple who was banned from holding Bible studies on their own property. Host: Dave Kistler Cohosts: Sam Rohrer, Dr. Gay Dull
