While the Founders never envisioned the so-called Separation of Church and State as defined by many today, we know that the church, sanctioned by Scripture, is to have a great deal of influence on the affairs of state. It’s not to be aloof or ignorant of what’s happening in society nor is it to seek power or anything other than the protection and propagation of truth.
Yet many have these concepts confused-so will explain why there’s a legitimate separation of powers in government, the function of both the government and the church, and how the two can work together, hand-in-hand, to provide a place where citizens can live godly, peaceable lives.
In these times when the lines are muddied, the church is divided and our government is in chaos, let’s get back to the basics of God’s Word and the Constitution of our great nation.
