Joseph Stalin, who ruled the Soviet Union for almost 30 years with an iron fist and was directly or indirectly responsible for the deaths of 20 to 60 million people by the hands of his secret police or his brutal gulags, wrote this:

“By May, 1st, 1937, there should not be one single church left within the borders of Soviet Russia, and the idea of God will have been banished from the Soviet Union as a remnant of the Middle Ages…”

Fortunately even a man as powerful as Stalin cannot erase the idea or man’s belief in God. He’s not a remnant of any age, though Stalin is. He’s alive and well and still does His work in this world through believers who love and serve Him.

But there are those who would still like to erase the name and idea of God in this nation of ours-a nation founded on the principles of liberty and justice for all taken from the unchanging and ever truthful Word of God.

On this program we’ll be studying the document that began this ‘holy experiment’ in self-government-the Constitution of the United States.
