When the Pharisees and Sadducees asked Jesus to give them a sign from heaven to prove he was the prophesied Messiah, he replied, “When it is evening, ye say, it will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, it will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?”

Jesus chided the religious leaders of the day for their lack of discernment in understanding the prophetical fulfillment of the times in which they lived. May the same not be said of us.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we can rest assured that all that’s happening around us isn’t a surprise to God. Yet we mustn’t bury our heads in the sand and willingly be ignorant of the issues and events that affect our lives here and now.
