Transcript: For the last week. I’ve been focusing on who God says He is. The Bible calls God a lawgiver, a term packed with truth for our lives today. Just laws are essential to the wellbeing of society. But did you realize they’re also important for our walk with God? Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. Isaiah 33:22 reads, “the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us.” In ancient times, those who made the laws were not the legislative branch of today, but the kings who ruled. God as the lawgiver, acknowledges Him as supreme authority. As lawgiver, He’s also the determiner of all right and wrong. As the Lawmaker, God determines the not only the rules, but the consequences -whether blessing or punishment. May we learn the law in the Bible and choose to obey so blessing can be ours. Transcript: American Christians sometimes falsely believe we won’t really suffer for our faith like people in other countries where Believers are beaten, raped or killed for following Christ. While we may or may not, the Bible describes a variety of persecutions we may face in standing firm in our faith. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. Our American freedoms allow us to worship the Lord, yet are we not already facing criticisms and mockings? In Hebrews 11, those who followed God faced challenges of exile, imprisonment, torture, death, and ridicule. God noted “the world was not worthy of them.” But one thing we often miss is that God acknowledged every persecution faced by His people as important. Whether it’s a loss of job, family, or reputation, God sees and knows when we suffer for Him. Don’t be discouraged. Stand firm whatever you face, knowing God is with you through every challenge. Persecution Series: Just Like Jesus

Transcript: While some claim faithfulness will lead to material blessing, Scripture teaches that faithful living will lead to persecution. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. In John 15, Jesus told His followers that the world would hate us because we are not of this world. He added, “If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you.” As American believers, we often view adversity differently than does Scripture. Many falsely preach Prosperity Gospel and that if you’re persecuted or not materially blessed you’re not living faithfully. But this just isn’t true. Persecution’s not the exception for the faithful believer; it’s the norm. So, don’t be surprised that when you fear God and faithfully keep His commands you’ll feel resistance from the culture. Persecution Series: Expecting Persecution

Transcript: Often times, people are told that if they become a Christian they will be prosperous and live free of persecution. But is this true? Not according to the apostle Paul. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. In 2 Timothy 3:12, Paul wrote “all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” Suffering is the norm, not the exception, for those who live like Christ. Unlike the feel-good messages some communicate today, those who live a godly life should expect persecution rather than prosperity. Just as Paul, the other apostles, and even Jesus faced trials for doing what was right. So we must be prepared to face adversity when we commit to living according to biblical truth. Our response should not be surprise when we’re persecuted, but rather to stand firm in boldness and love when others reject Jesus Christ the object of our faith.
