Civility in an Uncivilized World

June 2, 2019

June 2, 2019 • Isaac Crockett, Sam Rohrer, Jeff Coleman

You’ve probably heard the old saying, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. If you’re a parent, you’ve probably even said this to your children. This program is about the power of words, especially when it comes to conversing with people with whom we disagree. The invention of social media has now given us the opportunity to exponentially broadcast our beliefs-and for believers, the admonitions in James about life and death being in the power of the tongue have become even more significant. Honorable Jeff Coleman, former Pennsylvania House Representative and author joins this program today to discuss the methods and manners of public debate and the need for genuine civility to make a comeback in our discourse. If you’ve grown tired of the drama and want to hear a refreshing conversation for a change, you'll want to hear this episode of Stand in the Gap Weekend! Fathering the Fatherless

July 14, 2019 • Sam Rohrer, Gary Dull, Dave Kistler, Tim Schneider

Almost 60 years ago, about one in ten children grew up without the physical presence of a father in the home. Today, the staggering reality is that one in three children are fatherless-with an absent, incarcerated, or deceased father. While we know the need for children to grow up with both a father and a mother is crucial to their physical, social, and spiritual health, the culture continues to rush headlong into the destruction of the family unit as we’ve known it since the beginning of creation. Hollywood and the media glorify the single Mom or Dad, the homosexual couple, and transgender children; but these lifestyles and choices don’t come without a price to pay. On this program, our guest, Tim Schneider, will give his testimony about how he grew up without a father and a dysfunctional mother. He’ll tell us about his difficult early years and the moment his life was changed through a local church ministry and the men and women who reached out to him with the gospel and a helping hand. From Sexual Bondage to Spiritual Freedom: A True Story

In I Corinthians 6:9-11, the Apostle Paul writes, "…Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who submit to or perform homosexual acts, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God…" On today’s program, former homosexual, George Carneal will testify that these verses applied to him-what he was before and after he met Christ. He’ll tell us why he entered the gay lifestyle and what he found as he sank further and further into drug and alcohol addiction, depression, and finally attempted suicide. Eventually He found Jesus and chronicled his journey in his book, "From Queer to Christ: My Journey into the Light". Host: Sam Rohrer Co-host: Gary Dull Guest: George Carneal www.georgecarneal.com

Biblical Expectations for Godly Fathers

George MacDonald, nineteenth century author and poet, once wrote this, “Fatherhood is the core of the universe”. What did he mean by this and if correct, wouldn’t the unimaginable impact of a father’s relationship to his children be consequentially earth shaking? As believers, we know God’s design for families is a father and mother, raising children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. And that those children would continue the cycle so there will be future generations who’ll witness and testify to His goodness at all times in every place. We also know that Satan hates the idea of fatherhood. The destruction of the family and it’s resulting decay of society is his delight. The assault on parents in our own country has been devastating and we’re now reaping the disastrous effects of the rebellious 60’s and 70’s, the sexual revolution and the rise of feminism. This program focuses on 5 things fathers must teach their children from Deuteronomy 6 so that they will follow the Lord with all of their hearts. Host: Isaac Crockett Co-hosts: Sam Rohrer, Gary Dull
