When Pastors Go to Jail: The Cost of Standing for Truth

March 7, 2021 • Sam Rohrer, Gary Dull, John Carpay, David New

Like America, Canada recognizes religious freedom as a fundamental human right. In fact, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms defines religious freedom as “the right to entertain such religious beliefs as a person chooses, the right to declare religious beliefs openly and without fear of hindrance or reprisal, and the right to manifest religious belief by worship and practice or by teaching and dissemination”. So why has Pastor James Coates from Alberta Canada been jailed for holding church services?

On this program our guest, John Carpay, will join as the Canadian attorney who is currently defending the rights of this Pastor to exercise his freedom of religion.

Like many other situations even here in America, because of COVID policies, pastors increasingly find themselves up against a liberal governor or state legislature that undermines these first amendment rights.

What can be done and how can we bring more pressure to bear on those who would wantonly destroy our religious freedom?

We’ll be hearing about all that and more, including a look at the so called ‘Equality Act' with recurring guest, Attorney David New.
