First Fruit

The First Message Series

January 15, 2023 • Pastor Derrick Golden • Genesis 4:3–5, Exodus 34:24, Ezekiel 44:30, Proverbs 3:9, Romans 11:16

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Matthew 6:33

The first carries a lot of meaning for many of us…doesn’t it? What first in your life can you say really mattered the most to you? Can you see how significant that first is to you and what it does to you, what you think and feel about that first…whatever it is, it really matters to you and carries great meaning.

"...when it comes to God...we will find that though there may be many first, First is a principle to God."

1. The FIRST Matters to God – show up

2. The First DAY Matters to God – sow

3. The First “OF” the Day Matters to God – pray

4. The First Day Sets Up The Presence of God – praise

In this lesson series we have learned that first things really matter to God and we focused on how the first day matters, then last week we came to the understanding that God loves Love. In particular that First love, kind of Love. We said in order to get that back, to get back to that First Love, we had to "...Remember... Repent... Return...".

In this message, Pastor Derrick discusses, "First Fruit".

"And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.

Genesis 4:3-5.

"...Our observance of all of these things are a reflection of our gratitude of God’s goodness to us and we use these biblical practices and principles as execution of this gratitude. All of which have biblical promises attached to them, in particular the first fruit offering."

"It is a choice, and I choose to give Him my first fruit offering and I believe that my offering always gets GOD’s attention, because of my joy and willingness to participate..."
