05 The Revelation of Christ to the Eunuch

This sermon takes a fresh look at the conversion of the Ethiopian Eunuch, highlighting his background, his conversion and baptism, and the reason for rejoicing. The Eunuch, though excluded from temple worship due to his ethnicity and physical status, sought God's knowledge. The Holy Spirit sent Philip to reveal Christ to him through scripture, emphasizing that Jesus is revealed to sinners by God's grace. Understanding Jesus is essential to making sense of scripture, and through baptism, barriers between the Eunuch and God were broken down, illustrating the power of the gospel to transform lives!

Through the conversion of the Ethiopian Eunuch, we learn that the good news of gospel is spread through word and sacrament, not revolution. Liturgy is the work of the people, the is the method prescribed to change culture and the world.
