The Bottom Line

#4 - Commission

November 7, 2021 • Kyle Nettestad • Matthew 28:18–20

What is your purpose? We all contemplate this question from time to time? Am I where God wants me? Am I doing what He has laid out for me? Am I missing something? This Sunday we will try to provide some guidance to answer that question. Our core verse comes from Jesus' words in Matthew 28:18-20 - And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

#3 - Supernatural

October 31, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Hamilton • Matthew 25:31–46

This weekend in our church services, we'll tackle the topic of "The Supernatural," very fitting as this Sunday is also when many in the western culture celebrate the secular holiday of Halloween. Though really most of Halloween has been commercialized with candy and costumes, it does cause us to pause and ask the question: Is there a spiritual world active around me? Our core verse comes from Jesus' words in Matthew 25:41 - "He will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.'" Jesus spoke and taught about heaven, hell, demons and angels. Pastor Andy will unpack what the Bible says about these things, and some action steps we can take to prepare for our eternal future.

#2 - Election

October 24, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Hamilton • Matthew 22:1–14, Matthew 24:36–42

This weekend, we’re introduced to a parable that Jesus taught in Matthew 22:1-14. Our core verse is Matthew 22:14, “For many are called, but few are chosen.” This introduces us to the theological topic of “Election” or “Predestination.” Many people have wrestled with the question of how much of your life is in God’s control and how much of your life is in your control? This isn’t a new discussion, and unfortunately it’s become an issue of contention and division in churches for decades.  Instead of focusing our attention on the areas that Christians disagree on, this weekend, Pastor Andy will introduce us to four parameters that we learn from this parable that we all can agree upon and some practical ways that we can participate with God in reaching the lost.

#1 - The Cross

October 17, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Hamilton • Matthew 16:13–23, 1 Corinthians 1:18–28

Matthew was an accountant—he brokered in bottom lines. He, of all people, snapped to attention when Jesus threw down the gauntlet of his identity, our election, ultimate realities, and global mission. Bottom line: If you want to follow Jesus, you have to settle accounts here. This weekend’s core verse is Matthew 16:24-25. Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”  The cross was a symbol of torture that the Roman Government had perfected during the 1st century. This Sunday, pastor Andy will dive into the significance of the cross for Christ followers, and how we can imitate Jesus in all that we do!
