Hidden Hope

#4 - Son Of Man

September 5, 2021 • Don Parkison • Daniel 7:13

The phrase, “Son of Man” is used 192 times in the Bible. 107 in the Old Testament and 85 in the New Testament. In the New Testament,  no one else is called "Son of Man" except Jesus and no one calls Jesus "Son of Man" except Jesus. In the Old Testament, the term son of man was used every time as an expression of humility except once. That one time is this week's memory verse. “I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. Daniel 7:13

#3 - New Covenant

August 29, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Hamilton • Hebrews 10:5, Jeremiah 31:1–34, Hebrews 10:19–22

A few weeks ago, we learned that everything in scripture points to Jesus. What we're now beginning to see as we continue our journey through God's word, is the unfolding of God's plan to transition the Old Covenant which had become about rules and ritual, to the New Covenant which is about relationship and sacrifice. God sent prophets in the Old Testament to preach and call the nation of Israel to repentance. One of those prophets was the prophet Jeremiah. Jeremiah's life wasn't easy by any means, in fact, his ministry was marked as a tough road and in his legacy, he became known as the weeping prophet. He cared deeply for his people, and God used his words to usher in a new era. “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put My law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be My people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” Jeremiah 31:33-34

#2 - Atonement

August 22, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Hamilton • Isaiah 53:5

This Sunday, our message topic is chapter #15 of Core52: Atonement. Atonement is definitely a “church” word! In fact, a few of us at Adventure agree, that we’ve never heard the word used outside of a church context. Atonement, as we’ll learn this upcoming week is a “price to be paid.” In the church, we believe that Jesus paid the ultimate sin price on our behalf. This weekend Pastor Andy will be unpacking this concept of atonement, and what we receive as bible-believing followers of Christ.

#1 - Wisdom

August 15, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Hamilton • Proverbs 1:7

Our message topic is chapter #14 of Core52: Wisdom. It seems like in our society, we have more knowledge at our fingertips than ever before, yet less wisdom than previous generations. Solomon implores us to pursue wisdom. This weekend Pastor Andy will be unpacking some practical ways we can "get wisdom."
