#5 - Golden Rule (10:30am Service)

This weekend, our Core52 chapter #22 addresses “The Golden Rule” found in Matthew 7:12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. This teaching wasn’t new in Jesus’ day, however, Jesus did rephrase a common idea in a new and positive way, rather than a negative one. The statement he made is active, instead of a passive. This statement really summarizes all of the Sermon on the Mount. In Sunday’s message, Pastor Andy will teach us how The Golden Rule changes how we treat others.
#4 - Money (10:30am Service)

In this Apex series, we’ve been studying through the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew 5-7. In each of the passages, Jesus spoke directly to some of the cultural issues that people were facing in that day. In Matthew 6:19-21, Jesus drops another bomb shell that altered religious thought towards how people handled money. Our Core52 verse #21: Matthew 6:19-21 says: “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” Much like today, money management was a real issue! In fact, Jesus spoke more about money than he spoke on heaven or hell combined. This week, Pastor Andy will unpack God’s expectation for his people to be generous with the money that He provides.

This week, we'll be looking at the 2nd half of Matthew 5. As a follow up to last Sunday , there are a number of statements where Jesus said, "You have heard that it was said...but I say..." These 6 statements that Jesus addressed was a direct call to a deeper morality.
