Road to the Cross

Shame

March 25, 2018 • Jeff Manion

Pastor Jeff Manion concludes the series Road to the Cross with a conversation centered on Jesus’ interactions with Pilate, the soldiers and the spectators. These interactions help us learn more about ourselves and the verbal abuse Jesus experienced on our behalf. The early church saw Jesus’ response as an example of how to respond in times of hardship, challenging us to respond with humility ourselves.

Safety Check

March 18, 2018 • Dr. John Dickson

Guest speaker John Dickon walks us through the conversation between Jesus and one of the criminals crucified next to him. The conversation leads us to a three-part “safety check” to help us assess our understanding of the gospel. The safety check is important because it is possible to assume we have the real thing when we actually have a plastic version.

Alone

March 11, 2018 • Jeff Manion

Pastor Jeff Manion discusses the events surrounding Jesus’ trial. Peter plays a central role as he moves from claiming he would follow Jesus to the point of death to being disappointed in himself because he denied knowing Jesus three times. Through this conversation we are reacquainted with a Jesus who knows what it is like to be alone because he was abandoned by those closest to him.

Betrayal

Pastor Jeff Manion describes the events around two of Jesus’ last meals. In one meal, a woman gives an extravagant gift and Jesus recognizes that she did what she could. In the other, Jesus confronts his betrayer and ties himself to the Passover.
