In this video, we delve deep into the rich teachings of Romans 8:1-17. Together, we unravel the profound implications of the transformative power of the Spirit and the potential it holds for us. This isn't just about theology; it's about a practical, applicable, and down-to-earth approach to spirituality, an approach that resonates deeply with our everyday lives.
We begin by diving into the grace-filled promise of Romans 8:1-4, which speaks of freedom from condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. It's a heartfelt reminder of the love and grace of God, where we discuss the contrast between the law of sin and death and the law of the Spirit.
From there, we move on to reflect on the essence of living in the Spirit, as described in Romans 8:5-9. This segment challenges us to reconsider our focus, to shift our minds from the flesh and align with the desires of the Spirit, the path of life and peace.
Subsequently, we explore the transformative power of the Spirit that lives in us, as detailed in Romans 8:10-14. The power that brings life, that sets us free from the chains of sin, and establishes us as children of God.
Finally, we'll be discussing how we can practically cultivate the fruit of the Spirit in our day-to-day lives. We'll be setting a challenge for you: to carve out intentional moments each day to create a sacred space where you can connect with the Spirit.
As always, remember that this isn't just about information. It's about transformation. It's about becoming more like Jesus in the day-to-day grind. So grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and let's get started on this journey together.
Why Jesus? (June 25, 2023)
June 25, 2023
Welcome back to our strategic thinking training series! This week we delve into the heart of our faith — Jesus.
In this video, we'll address fundamental questions like, did Jesus exist? What did He say about Himself? And, why did Jesus die? We tackle these big questions not just from a place of curiosity, but from a longing to understand our faith and its roots more deeply.
We explore the profound words of C.S. Lewis on Jesus, the man, the teacher, the divine. We challenge ourselves to confront any preconceived notions and truly engage with the teachings of Christ.
We also turn our gaze upon humanity, our capacity for boundless love and regrettable harm, and how our actions play into the cosmic narrative of sin. To deepen our understanding, we'll study key scriptural texts from Romans and delve into the multifaceted problem of sin — from the pollution of our souls to the addictive power and inherent penalties.
Our journey then leads us to a difficult place — the foot of the cross, where we grapple with the weight of our sin and the profound grace found in Jesus' sacrifice.
Yet, the cross isn't the end; it's the doorway to liberation. As we delve into Jesus' teachings in John and Peter, we explore the freeing power of Christ's love and the continuous forgiveness we have through Him.
Our challenge for this session is to carry these teachings from the head to the heart, not merely as knowledge but as lived truth.
Stay till the end for a special exploration into our collective journey of knowing Jesus more intimately. As always, we invite you to comment, share, and join our conversation on thinking strategically about faith. Don't forget to hit the subscribe button!
Let's continue to explore and grow together in faith.
Who is God? (June 18, 2023)
June 18, 2023
Hello friends and welcome back to week two of our exploration of life's deepest questions. In this session, we delve into a profound yet quintessential query: Who is God?
Understanding God is not merely an intellectual pursuit but an invitation to a transformational relationship. We contrast the Greek words Gnosis (knowledge) and Ginosko (intimate knowing), emphasizing that our goal is not just to know about God, but to know Him intimately, as Jesus invites us to in John 17:3.
We then unpack the beautiful truth of our adoption as God's children as articulated in Ephesians 1:4-5 and Galatians 4:4-6. We are not merely God's creations or servants, but His beloved children, with the Spirit of His Son in our hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"
Next, we reflect on our earthly fathers and how our experiences with them can shape our perception of our Heavenly Father. Drawing from Luke 11:11-13, we grapple with the idea that if earthly fathers, despite their flaws, know how to give good gifts, how much more will our perfect Heavenly Father give to us?
In the words of John 17:23, we explore the depth of the Father's love for us - a love so profound that He loves us just as He loves Jesus. This love is foundational to our identity as children of God, as expressed in 1 John 3:1. Recognizing and accepting this love enables us to grow in our intimate knowledge of God.
As part of this week's challenge, we will explore the concept of forgiveness. How does understanding God as our loving Father impact our ability to forgive and seek forgiveness?
