Hope for America's Warriors

November 15, 2020 • Isaac Crockett, Gary Dull, Jeremy Salnecker

In 1980, the America Psychiatric Association added PTSD as a mental health disorder to its widely acclaimed diagnostic manual known as the DSM. Previous generations would’ve recognized this disorder as “shell shock” but the acknowledgement of its far-reaching effects on the brain, body, and mental faculties has only received the attention of the medical community in the last few decades.

Did you know it’s estimated that 7.7 million Americans suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder known as PTSD. Many of these brave men and women are veterans, first responders, sexual abuse survivors and others who’ve experienced event related trauma and stress.

On this program, we talk with a military vet who experienced his own struggle with PTSD and eventually co-founded a ministry to help others like him called The Mighty Oaks Foundation.

If you know someone suffering with this disorder, or would like to know how to help people who’ve survived a traumatic event in their lives, you’ll want to listen to this Stand in the Gap Weekend program!
