I Am ______ I Am Redeemed I am REDEEMED Redeemed - to purchase something back. Redemption is both a one time thing and ongoing . One time thing: - Jesus died on the cross and paid the price for our sins which redeemed us so we could have a personal relationship with Him. Ongoing: - God is redeeming us from the messes we continue to create. Ephesians 2:1, 3, & 8-10 (NLT) 1 Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. 3 All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires of inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. 4 But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead. 8 God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago. 1. YOU WERE dead in your sins Scripture: Ephesians 2:1, 3 (NLT) Quote: “Until we see yourselves as a sinner, we will not see our need for a Savior.” 2. BUT GOD is rich in mercy Scripture: Ephesians 4-5 (NLT) BIG IDEA: There are things you will never get over until you have a BUT GOD moment. 3. BY GRACE you are saved Scripture: Ephesians 2:8-9

I Am Chosen

I Am ______ I Am Chosen 1 Peter 2:9a (NIV) – But you are a chosen people… 1 Peter 1:4a, 6 (NLT) – You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple….As the Scriptures say, “I am placing a cornerstone in Jerusalem, chosen for great honor, and anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Because I Am Chosen… 1. I Have an Identity in Christ 1 Peter 2:9a (NIV) – But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession… 1 Peter 2:10 (NLT) – “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.” Hebrews 4:14 (NLT) – So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. Matthew 27:51 (NLT) – At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart. Why was the curtain torn in two? Because we no longer needed a priest to access God’s presence for us. Jesus is our High Priest, and Jesus’ death meant that ALL PEOPLE could now enter into the presence of God. Hebrews 10:19-22 (NLT) – And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Warren Wiersbe: “In the Old Testament period, God’s people had a priesthood, but today, God’s people are a priesthood. Each individual believer has the privilege of coming into the presence of God.” 1 Peter 1:2a (NLT) – God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. Ephesians 1:13 (NLT) – And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. 2. I Have a Responsibility in Christ • Worship Christ 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV) – But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. • Be a Witness for Christ 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV) – But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. • Live a Life Worthy of Christ 1 Peter 2:11-12 (NLT) – Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. 12 Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world. Colossians 1:10 (NIV) – live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God. John 15:16 (NLT) – You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. Romans 8:33-34 (NLT) – Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
