On the third day of His death and burial, Jesus rose to life in the event known as the resurrection. As in His death, miraculous events surrounded the resurrection of Jesus. On the day His tomb was found empty, there was a great earthquake, an angel came from heaven and rolled back the tombstone, and Jesus was seen alive again (Matthew 28:2, 9).
But ultimately, the miracle of the resurrection revealed that Jesus is more powerful than death. Jesus Himself prophesied His own death and resurrection. Then, He laid His life down and took it up again of His own accord (John 10:18). His life, death, and resurrection also caused others to resurrect from the dead. Indeed, He is the resurrection and the life (John 11:25). In this lesson, we will see three implications of the resurrection of Jesus.

When Jesus rose from the dead, He proved that He is the Son of God, even to those who previously did not believe. He also proved that He was divine, and thus worthy of worship. What a glorious sight for Jesusโ followersโto see the resurrected Savior! But in spite of all this, not everyone believed (Matthew 28:17). What are the things you find hard to believe? Jesusโ resurrection proved that all of the kingdoms of the world have been placed under His power and authority. Satan was called the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2), and he held all the kingdoms of the world (Matthew 4:8). But when Jesus rose again, He took the kingdom back from Satan to be under His rule. What does Revelation 11:15 say about the kingdoms of the world?

Ultimately, the miracle of the resurrection of Jesus highlights that Jesus was who He said He wasโthe Son of God, greater than death, and the only way that we can be saved and experience eternal life. Itโs this very fact that now compels us to go and make disciples, so that others will come to know the Jesus that we know and experience the eternal life that He has made available to them.
