Christians are recipients of teachings of Godโs word. We are disciplesโstudents who diligently obey what we have been taught. In this passage, the psalmist encourages Godโs people to listen and tell others about what they hear. In our context today, we have heard the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and are commanded to make disciples (Matthew 28:19) to ensure that what we have heard is taught and passed on to others (2 Timothy 2:2). For a Christian, all roads lead to discipleship. Letโs look at what this means and how we can apply it in our lives.

First, we are recipients and students of Godโs word. We all need to read, study, and grow in our understanding of Godโs word. We are taught by those who have come to know Christ before us, in order for us to also grow in our relationship with God. We intentionally give and incline our ears to what God says through the people who teach us to follow Him. Share how you first learned about God and who taught you to love Him.ย

Second, we are to pass on what we know and teach this to others. We are to tell others about God and what He has done. The gospel and the work of God should not stop with us. Third, we are to do our part so that the next generations would know about and love God, too. The gospel was passed on to us with boldness and sacrifice, from the time of the twelve disciples until the person who told you about Jesus. What do you think would happen if we kept the best news ever of our salvation to ourselves? Why should we remain steadfast in helping others make disciples as well?ย

โข Pray for your family members and friends who need to know about Jesus. Ask God for opportunities, boldness, wisdom, urgency, and empowerment from the Holy Spirit for you to help them follow Jesus.ย
