“𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘺 𝘚𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘑𝘦𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘮 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘑𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩.” 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗦 𝟭:𝟴

Before He ascended to heaven, Jesus commanded His disciples to go and make disciples of all nations. He was calling them to go and be His witnesses in different cities, which would become doorways for the gospel to be preached to the end of the earth. As He sent them out into the world, He told them to wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit to come upon them. Today, we will talk about the insights we can learn from this verse as we obey God’s call to go.

𝟭. 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

“𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘺 𝘚𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 . . .” 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗦 𝟭:𝟴

When God called His disciples to preach the gospel, He did not send them to go out on their own. In fact, He promised them His presence and power through the Holy Spirit. We can obey the call of God to preach the gospel, knowing that His presence is with us whether we go or stay to preach the gospel where we are. How have you experienced the presence of God where you are right now?

𝟮. 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗹.

“. . . 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘑𝘦𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘮 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘑𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢 . . .” 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗦 𝟭:𝟴

God’s call to preach the gospel is for all of His disciples, including us today. Some of us are called to preach the gospel in our own communities. However, some of His people answer the call by making long-term, strategic plans to preach the gospel in different cities and nations. Regardless, wherever we are, we are called to preach the gospel. What opportunities to preach the gospel do you see in and beyond your community?

𝟯.𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵.

“. . . 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘑𝘦𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘮 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘑𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩.” 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗦 𝟭:𝟴

God was very clear about who should hear the gospel. He is sending His people to preach the gospel until it reaches every person even at the ends of the earth. There is no place on earth that is excluded from His command. That is why as a church, we are sending missionaries who will go to the ends of the earth. But this also includes every one of us. God is calling us to go out of our comfort zone to preach the gospel. Have you preached the gospel outside of your comfort zone? What was the result?

Whether we pray for cross-cultural missionaries and their mission fields, support the work they do by giving, or step out and go to the nations, we were never meant to do this alone. Jesus promised that He will be with us to the very end of the age, and He has called others as well so we can accomplish His mission together.

• Ask God to give you a nation to pray for. Commit to pray for that nation, that more workers will be sent, the gospel will be preached, and lives will be transformed.

• Thank God for sending His people to preach the gospel to the ends of the earth. Thank Him for bringing the gospel to you and your community.

• Pray that you will hear clearly from God as you respond to His call to preach the gospel and to support those who are sent to the nations.
