Ahithophel told Absalom that he should select 12,000 men so they could pursue David while he was weak and tired. This seemed like a good plan to Absalom. Then Absalom wanted to talk to Hushai the Arkite to hear what he had to say about this plan. Hushai told him that the plan was not a good one.
