Day 3: Rejuvenation

Psalm 40:1-3
1 I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.

The author of Psalm 40 shares with us that anyone can find himself or herself bogged down in
the mud and mire. Any of us can slip into a deep pit, but when that happens, we are confident
that we cry. He hears. He lifts. We walk steadily on solid ground. We recuperate, rehabilitate, and
rejuvenate.

After the painstakingly detailed work of recuperation and rehabilitation, we are beginning to look
like God’s masterpiece again. He has heard our cry, lifted us up out of the miry pit, placed our
feet on solid ground, and restored our health but also restored our emotional outlook.

This process takes time and requires patience. I could share with you name after name of people
I know who have experienced this process and I have personally witnessed their healthy life
process. Paco, Chris, Angie, Boyd, Peter…the list goes on and on.

Our text today states that people will see and put their trust in the Lord.

In that moment as we have a new song to sing, we are revealed to the world and we experience
the rejuvenation of God’s love. It is God’s plan to reveal us to the world around us – to our
family, friends, and neighbors.

Remember… “We are blessed that we might be a blessing.”

Triple D: I’m not sure about where you are in the process but take the time today to assess
yourself. Are you in the pit right now? Cry out to God and begin your recuperation as he lifts you
out of the pit. Maybe you are just entering the rejuvenation time and God has put a new joy in
your step because he has done a work within you. Consider where you are in this process, realize
that it takes time, and move forward one day at a time that God might use you in your life.
