Thousands of years before J.K. Rowling wrote about a boy with a lightning-shaped scar, the Holy Spirit penned the original story of a "Boy Who Lived" against impossible odds. In this message, we dive into Exodus 1:1-2:10 to see how God’s plan for redemption cannot be thwarted, even when the forces of chaos and death seem to have the upper hand.

We explore the "Dark Lord" of Egypt—a ruler obsessed with power and "willful forgetting"—and the "ancient magic" of sacrificial love displayed by a mother and two courageous midwives. From the "tebah" (ark) in the reeds to the palace of Pharaoh, we see how God uses the weak to confound the strong and prepares a deliverer in the midst of the darkness.

Ultimately, this story points us to the Greater Moses, Jesus Christ. He is the one who didn't just hide in an ark of papyrus, but became the Ark for us, taking the "flood" of judgment so that we could be "drawn out" into true freedom.
