Witherspoon Street Presbyterian Church is delighted to announce the 39th anniversary celebration of its esteemed verse-speaking choir, scheduled for May 18, 2025. Under the dedicated leadership of Dr. Cecelia B. Hodges, a distinguished former professor at Princeton University, the choir has become a cherished part of our community's spiritual and cultural life.

Dr. Hodges, a well-known professor, actor, producer, and writer in the Princeton community, has guided the choir to new artistic heights. Her commitment to excellence and passion for the spoken word have inspired both choir members and audiences alike.

The verse-speaking choir, known for its evocative performances, graces our congregation every third Sunday and during special events throughout the year. Their unique blend of spoken word and musicality offers a profound and moving worship experience.

The upcoming anniversary celebration promises to be a memorable occasion, highlighting the choir's significant contributions to the church and the community over the years. Attendees can expect an inspiring program filled with moving performances, reflections, and moments that honor the choir's rich history and dedication to their art.

We invite everyone to join us in celebrating this milestone and the joy that the verse-speaking choir brings to our church family and beyond. It will be a wonderful opportunity to gather, rejoice, and appreciate the incredible talent of our choir members.

As we approach this significant event, we reflect on the words of Maya Angelou, whose work has often been featured in our performances: "We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike." This sentiment resonates deeply with our mission and the unity we strive to foster within our community.
