What is camp mochi?

Camp Mochi is an opportunity for children to learn about the Japanese New Year’s tradition of making and eating mochi, a soft and pounded rice cake.

Children will tour Wesley’s mochitsuki process to learn how to make mochi from beginning to end. There is a lot of hands-on fun for the kids to participate in the traditional pounding of the rice, shaping the soft rice into small cakes, and flipping them to cool. The kids will even shape their own mochi to take home!

Camp Mochi is a “drop off” program. You are invited to help with mochitsuki in the Fellowship Hall!
