Olympic Faith

The Dream

August 4, 2024 • Rev. David Petty, CLM Twinkle Gordon • Hebrews 11:1–3, Hebrews 11:8–16, Acts 16:9–15

As we stand on the threshold of this sacred time, we leave behind the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. We lay aside our distractions and our worries, stepping into Your presence with hearts open and spirits ready to receive.

Guide our feet, and our hands, and our hearts, and our minds, Lord, as we journey together in faith, much like the athletes who train with perseverance and dedication. May our faith be strengthened for the race we all run and may we have endurance so that our faith will never fail.

We are reminded Lord of the great cloud of witnesses, those who have gone before us, running their own races with endurance and going where they have been called may we too be attentive to Your call, ready to go where You lead and ready to serve where You send.

Inspired by the faith of Abraham and Sarah, who stepped out into the unknown, not knowing where they were going, we too ask for the courage to trust in Your promises, to trust in our training, and to embrace the journey with hope and joy.

As we sing together our threshold song "Guide My Feet," may our hearts unite in purpose and our voices rise in praise. May we cross the threshold from the ordinary into the extraordinary, from the secular into the sacred from the profane in to the profound. May this be a time of renewal and transformation for us all.
