Marriage, Divorce and Money

Betrothal and marriage are honorable and highly esteemed in the sight of YeHoVaH. From the beginning, marriage is a process where a man leaves his father and mother and cleaves to his wife and two are to become one flesh. The preservation of marriage had Laws specifically given by YeHoVaH. Divorce was not allowed for just any reason, but was permitted under certain circumstances. In this portion of Deuteronomy, we will examine additional Laws pertaining to divorce, and new marriages. We will also examine additional Laws regarding lending, responsibilities to the poor Brethren, and Laws that could potentially affect the monetary loss of crops and YeHoVaH’s promises to those who obeyed His Instructions.

The Blessings of Obeying The Law

The Instructions given by YeHoVaH to Moses, contained in the Law, were established to bring order and harmony to the newly developed nation. The Law would enable Brothers to be able to dwell together in unity when they took possession of the land promised to the Children of Israel. The Law provided blessings as incentives to motivate YeHoVaH’s people to obey His Law and curses to discourage His people from breaking His Law. In this portion of Deuteronomy 28, we will examine the blessings of obeying YeHoVaH’s Law.

The Law of God contains blessings for those who obey and curses for those who disobey. Contrary to popular Christian teachings, the Law of God is not cursed. However, there are curses in the Law. The Instructions, given by YeHoVaH to Moses, in the Law were established to bring order and harmony to the newly developed nation enabling brothers to be able to dwell together in unity when they took possession of land promised to the Children of Israel. Each tribe had to make a proclamation with their mouth of their agreement to the Covenant with YeHoVaH that they would obey His Covenant and that violating His Covenant would bring forth a curse instead of the desired blessings of the Covenant.

Kingdom Economics

Kingdom Economics is about the Creator’s plan to provide for His people in the kingdoms of this world. YeHoVaH’s Covenant with the kingdom of Israel, aka The House of Israel, had very clear written Instructions in His Commandments concerning the protection and the provisions that He would provide for His people. His Commandments were contingent on Israel’s obedience to His Decrees, Commands, and Laws. In this portion of Deuteronomy, YeHoVaH reveals to the Children of Israel, their responsibilities in response to His prosperity, protection, and provisions in order to maintain their kingdom and personal economy.
