At Church on The Sound we value communion. Receiving communion is an important part of our spiritual life. There is a direct connection between the Passover and its fulfillment in what Jesus did for us when He died for our sins. Our Lord Himself instructed us to take communion when He said, “Do this in remembrance of Me.”
Because we value communion as an expression of our relationship with God through Jesus, we are inviting your child to take a 4-week communion course. It will be held on Sunday’s at 9am sharp. You will be asked to review the material with your child each week. Classes begin Sunday, April 27. We will meet every Sunday, except Mother’s Day. There will be a special service on Sunday, June 1st (during 2nd service) where all those who participate will celebrate communion with the entire congregation.
Two questions we frequently receive are:
At what age should my child take the course?
What if they already participate in communion?
What Age? We believe that the age in which a person takes communion is an individual decision made by you and your child based on answering three simple questions:
· Has my child repented and made the decision to place his/her faith in Jesus as Messiah and Savior? (
Rom. 10:9-10, John 3:3)
· In what ways have they demonstrated that they are born again? (2 Cor. 5:17, James 2:17)
· Are they old enough to understand who Jesus is and what He has done for them? (1 Cor. 11:27-29)
If you feel your child is ready, I highly recommend this informative class for ages nine and up.
Even if they are currently receiving communion, but have not had teaching on the significance of communion, we strongly recommend that you enroll your son or daughter.
If they have previously taken the course, we welcome them to re-take the class if you feel it would benefit them.
