Jesus’ Triumphal Entry (Matthew 21, Mark 11, Luke 19, and John 12)

This Week in Sunday School

April 13, 2025

Dear Families,

This week, we explored the story of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem as told in all four Gospels—Matthew 21, Mark 11, Luke 19, and John 12. Crowds of people welcomed Jesus as their King, waving palm branches and shouting “Hosanna!” They were excited and full of hope, believing He had come to rescue them from Roman rule.

But Jesus wasn’t coming to conquer their political enemies—He came for a greater purpose: to save people from sin and death. Even though the people didn’t fully understand who He was, Jesus continued toward the cross out of love for them and for us.

Jesus is still the true King and Saviour. He is gentle and humble, yet powerful to save. This week, talk with your children about what it means to worship Jesus—not just with our words, but with our lives. How can we honour Him as King today?

To help you keep the conversation going at home, check out The Gospel Project At Home for ideas, prayer prompts, and family activities.

Let’s praise Jesus, our Servant King, who came to bring salvation!
