Saturday, September 27, a “Lunch and Learn” in the Fellowship Hall, 10:30am – 1:00pm:
A Morning with Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove: Looking to the Gospels to Make Sense of
Our Current Political Climate
Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove is an esteemed spiritual writer, preacher, and community-cultivator. He serves as Assistant Director for Partnerships and Fellowships at Yale University’s Center for Public Theology and Public Policy. A Baptist who draws on the broad Christian tradition and its monastic witnesses, Jonathan is a leader in the Red Letter Christian movement and the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. He speaks often about spirituality and faith in public life to churches and conferences across the denominational spectrum and has given lectures at dozens of universities and seminaries.
During his morning with us, he will explore such questions as:
· How do we respond to the deconstruction of our civil liberties?
· How can the Gospels be effective in adjusting our understanding of conflicting values?
· If we are feeling impotent in the face of current changes, what can we do to help make change?
Note that this event is on a Saturday morning. Lunch will be provided free of charge. An RSVP is not required but would help provide an approximate headcount.
