Identity… who is GOD? Today many are questioning their own identities let alone who is in control of the universe. Everyone wants to belong and identify as being important to others. The culture today is shifting its influence faster than ever before and is continuously causing disruptions in all areas of people’s lives; because of this as a spirit-filled, born-again believer, I must guard my mind, my heart, and my soul. Otherwise, questions can creep in, and I could find myself suddenly asking who is God? Will He answer that prayer? Does He care about what is going on? Why am I anxious? If I place my thoughts within in this pattern, everything seems like shifting sand and I can feel at a loss.

However, we must refocus and go to the source upon which our faith stands: God’s word! God’s word tells me that He is our Savior—He was sacrificed for you and me. In Him is where my identity lies; I am a child of God! He is my strength. Even when trouble surrounds me and it’s hard, I can make it through. He is my direction; He will guide my path along this journey in life. He is my peace despite the storm that surrounds me. He is my rock, and my foundation is built on Him and His word. He is my joy despite all the havoc this world brings. Whatever it is that we need Him to be, He is!

John 14:6—Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
