There are many competing views and voices on sexuality today. Some of these voices even confuse what the Bible says about it. So, what does the Bible say about sexuality? And why is the Bible’s teaching on sexuality ultimately aimed at helping us flourish rather than suppressing us? On September 18, Stones will welcome Dr. Christopher Yuan, a speaker, author, and former professor. Dr. Yuan will share his story of his personal transformation from an agnostic gay man to a born-again believer. Not only did God turn his unbelief into belief, but God also freed him from the bondage of drugs and promiscuity. This inspirational story of redemption and grace transcends the topic of sexual identity touching on issues such as drug addiction, promiscuity, incarceration, and HIV. Dr. Yuan's message of redemption is one that points to our Heavenly Father who is calling all of us prodigals to run to Him. Christopher casts a compelling vision of not embracing our sexuality, but embracing Christ, thus shattering the paradigms of gay and straight and pointing us toward the biblical standard of holy sexuality. A Moody Bible Institute graduate and a former professor there, Dr. Yuan speaks at conferences, on college campuses, and in churches. His mother, Angela, will join us for the event and tell her story as a mother who fasted and prayed for years for her prodigal sons. Here is our schedule for September 18: 9:00 and 10:45 a.m.: Dr. Yuan and his mother will share their stories of hope during both morning worship services. 5:00 to 5:50 p.m.: Session on key Bible passages that discuss homosexuality.
