Mission: Sharing our Hope

Planting Hope, Always: Sharing our Hope Speaker: Rev. Ho-Ming Tsui Scripture: 1 Peter 3:15 We evangelize to share our hope. ——— 1. Are you excited to share your hope? But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord… —1 Peter 3:15 The joyful effects of the gospel motivate us to share our hope. ——— 2. Are you ready to share your hope when people ask? Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have…. —1 Peter 3:15 The transformative power of the gospel demands an explanation. Our hope is found in the person, work and return of Jesus: I. In the person of Jesus, God emptied himself of his glory (upside-down aspect) The person of Jesus (incarnation) gives me hope because it teaches me there is a new way to live. II. Through the work of Jesus, God substituted himself for us (inside-out aspect). The work of Jesus (substitution) gives me hope because it tells me God loves me. III. At the return of Jesus, God will make a new world (forward-back aspect). The return of Jesus (resurrection) gives me hope because it declares that better days are ahead. ——— 3. Are you living in such a way that your hope is visible? But do this with gentleness and respect —1 Peter 3:15 The humble nature of the gospel leads us to demonstrate it with gentleness and respect ——— Practical Ways To Share Your Hope: 1. Prepare your story How has the person, work and return of Jesus changed your life? Your story answers the WHY. 2. Pray for opportunities Evangelism is more about sharing than winning 3. Practice presence Be fully present with the people God brings into your life

Sharing Our Hope 1 Peter 3:15 Mike Leung Today’s message centers on this truth: We evangelize to share our hope. Introduction: What is Hope? Hope is the confident belief to trust that God will fulfill his promises Why do we share our hope? The Gospel is even more powerful. It’s the cure for the deepest problem in the world: the brokenness caused by sin. The Gospel is Our Hope. How do we share our hope? Pray for those around you ——— Care through acts of Kindness Share your Faith Story Are we ready to share our hope? Not perfectly—but faithfully. Because someone out there needs to hear it from you. ——— Conclusion 1. Prepare your story — This week, write down your personal journey of hope. How has Jesus changed your life? What difference has He made? Be ready to share it in 2-3 minutes. 2. Pray for opportunities — Ask God daily to bring people into your path who need to hear about your hope. 3. Practice presence — Be fully present with the people God brings into your life. Listen well, ask good questions, and look for natural openings to share your hope

Set Apart: A Compromise to Holiness
February 9, 2025 • Pastoral Intern Evan Ng • 1 Peter 2:7–9, Romans 12:1–2, Galatians 5:16, Galatians 5:25
Set Apart - A Compromise to Holiness Pastoral Intern Evan Ng Main Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 2:7-9, Romans 12:1-2, Galatians 5:16,25 Bottom Line: Holiness rejects compromise. When we compromise ourselves with the culture of the world and sin, we no longer look set apart or different. We look like the rest of the world. Think About This: Compromise isn’t choosing other gods instead of Jesus. It’s trying to include other gods along with our worship of Jesus. “Christians should live in the world, but not be filled with it. A ship lives in the water; but if the water gets into the ship, it goes to the bottom. So Christians may live in the world; but if the world gets into them, they sink.” —D. L. Moody Things we might say: “My sin isn’t that bad…” “I know I shouldn’t do this… but why not?” “I think I’m Christian enough…” “But… they made me do it!” The reality is that it’s hard to be holy. It’s lot easier to just compromise. But, us going to church on a Sunday is already a step towards holiness, and it doesn’t stop there. Conform: To comply with rules, standards, or laws. To be similar. To be molded. Transform: To make a thorough or dramatic change in the form, appearance, or character. Reflection: Pinpoint something in your life that is causing you to compromise a life of holiness. What are you going to do to change? What does it mean to walk by the Spirit? How can you do that in a practical way this week?

What was I made for? Mission Romans 10:14-15, 1 Peter 3:15-17 Pastoral Intern Evan Ng What’s driving your life? What is the purpose of your life? In the Mission Purpose… We focus on how we can fulfill God’s purpose for our lives by multiplying; by carrying out God’s message. The Mission Purpose invites us to share Christ with people who are beyond our church family. WHO? (looking at those beyond our church walls) 1. Those who have been hurt by the church 2. Those who misuse or misunderstand Christ and Christianity 3. Those who have never heard the name of Jesus Those who misuse or misunderstand Christ and Christianity will be the people we will most commonly come across. HOW? (How do we carry out God’s message?) 1. Pray! For God to lead you and give you strength. 2. Spiritual CPR a. Cultivate: being with b. Plant: sharing with c. Reap: them receiving Christ 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 and Romans 1:16 Think About These Things: What if you friend is just one ask away from believing in Jesus? You aren’t the only one that has to share the gospel to your friends. You have the whole church. 2 Questions: 1. What intimidates you the most about sharing the gospel to others who are non-Christian? 2. What small step can you do to share Jesus with them?

Names: Jehovah Rohi

Sermon notes Names: Jehovah Rohi Scriptures: Psalm 23:1-6; 1 Peter 2:25 Pastor Joey Ling Jehovah Rohi means “The Lord Is My Shepherd.” A sheep without a shepherd is lost. It cannot survive on its own. The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,[a] I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. —Psalm 23:1-6 What Jehovah Rohi does based on Psalm 23 He leads and provides He refreshes & strengthens us He guides us He gives us courage He keeps us safe Victory over death “For “you were like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” —1 Peter 2:25 God is the overseer of our souls. He is the shepherd of our souls. Jesus calls himself the Good Shepherd, and he made the ultimate sacrifice for us (John 10:11).
