Color of Compromise Discussion Group
July 13, 2020 from 7:30 - 9:00pm EDT
Walter will lead a six-week discussion on these twelve 20-minute videos, based on the book, The Color of Compromise by Jemar Tisby, a black Christian historian. This group is designed to be an on-ramp to the larger conversation about racial justice. Many Christians have never been exposed to the history of the Church’s involvement in racial injustice from the colonial era up to the present day. The goal of this study is not to stir guilt or widen divisions. Rather, we want to have constructive conversations based on a shared understanding of our actual history, so that together we might more faithfully believe, proclaim and embody the Gospel of Jesus. Who: open to anyone What: Large group video followed by small group breakout conversations. When: 6 Monday nights starting June 15th from 7:30 to 9PM How: Zoom at first and transitioning to in-person when we can.
