Water Baptism
April 27, 2025 from 11:00am - 12:00pm EDT
Water baptism is an incredible next step to take in your relationship with Jesus, and as your CC family, we can’t wait to celebrate with you on Sunday, April 27th.
Please know that ALL baptisms will be held in our 11 AM service only!
Water baptism represents a desire to announce that we have chosen to follow Christ. When we are baptized, we are immersed in water to show that God has washed away our sins and that we are rising from the water to begin a new life in Christ. It is a way of saying that we have counted the cost and decided to serve God with all of our hearts.
Why is baptism important?
As you prepare to publicly take this next step on Sunday, here are a few thoughts about the purpose and importance of baptism and why we believe in it as Christians:
The Bible teaches that we should be baptized in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. We believe in water baptism because Jesus himself modeled it for us. In Luke 3:2 it says, "When all the people were baptized, Jesus was baptized too. As he was praying, heaven was opened."
· Baptism is an outward confession of an inward decision.
· Baptism is a command. Everyone who confesses Christ should be baptized.
· Baptism comes from the word “baptize,” which means to immerse in water.
· Baptism represents a burial of the old way of life and the old mindset.
· Baptism is not a prerequisite to salvation. It is a public declaration of your salvation.
· Baptism doesn’t get you to heaven. It announces to those around you that you will one day enter into Heaven!
Some scriptures to read as you prepare for Sunday:
