What is Discovering Holy Week?
The Rev. Remington Slone
Join Fr. Remington in this interactive exploration of the gift of our Holy Week traditions. Holy Week, the week from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, includes ancient practices and modern innovations and is designed to move people of faith into a deeper relationship with Jesus and a heightened awareness of the acts of redemption we celebrate as Christians. This class will highlight the history and traditions of Holy Week while pointing to a deeper spiritual experience in this central portion of the Christian year. This class will be offered Wednesday nights on Zoom with all classes and supplementary materials available on Youtube as well. Participants are encouraged to join in the conversation while enjoying their favorite soup or dinner at home. Each session will begin with a time of fellowship and close with prayer. For more information, email Fr. Remington.
Covenant Groups
Covenant Groups are small groups of 5-8 people who meet once-twice a month to foster Spiritual Friendship. Groups meet at a time and place determined by the group. Each meeting has a check-in, study determined by the group, and prayer. Covenant Groups are safe spaces. In a large church such as St. David’s, small groups are the key to forming close and lasting relationships with other Christians as you grow closer to our Lord. As Jesus said in the book of Matthew, “When two or three are gathered in my Name, there too am I.” Check your mailbox Sunday, September 26 for a form. Covenant Group Members will be in the hall to answer any questions. Quotes from members: “Two years ago, I entered a room of strangers. Today I enter a room filled with friends.” “I have been in a Covenant Group with six amazing women. We read, study and talk about God, Jesus, Bible verses and the parables, but we also love, support and encourage one another.” “I can say without a doubt that this group has been my rock and my anchor-holding me steadfastly to this church. Our times have been filled with reflective moments as well as joyous fellowship.” “My Covenant Group has become a group of sisters for me!”
