Benefitting REFRESH! BERKS

December 22, 2024
4:00 - 6:00pm

Immanuel UCC will host Vox Philia for their annual holiday concert of new and familiar music, exploring the many themes of the Christmas season. Mark your calendars now for an afternoon of delightful music sure to put you in the holiday spirit.

The concert's admission revenue will be donated to REFRESH! BERKS.  The initiative REFRESH! BERKS is a fully equipped mobile shower trailer traveling to diverse locations across Berks County. Beyond showers, the initiative also aims to link individuals with community resources and create an environment of dignity and respect for all.

This year's program includes the premiere of John Whittaker’s “A Christmas Garland”; Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on Christmas Carols”; and two Christmas texts (There is no Rose & Make We Joy) by singing three settings of each, including one by Lancaster based composer (and Vox tenor) Lyndon Gehman. There will also be works by Praetorius, Fedak and Whittaker, as Vox is joined by their sister organization, Berks Sinfonietta.  Tickets cost $15 for adults, and $5 for students.

Vox Philia is a premiere chamber choir located in Reading, Pennsylvania. Since 2013, the choir has been achieving regional recognition, performing works from a wide range of musical periods and styles.
