Week 2: Cancel Culture Text: Matthew 10:21–23 Topics: Cancel Culture, Pressure, Worldview Conflict  Big Idea of the Message: Teens are experiencing the stress of “cancel culture” from all ideological sides; they need the help of adults in their lives to live faithfully in the midst of this.  Application Point: Living the life of a called Christian means that we are to not only share the message of Jesus but live like we believe it.

Kids These Days

May 12, 2024 • Pastor Jay Caron

Kids These Days Big Idea of the Series: This series seeks to help adults better understand what challenges children and youth are facing today in an effort to encourage greater empathy and equip adults for greater discipleship of the next generation. Each week we will look at a unique challenge that “kids these days” are facing, not just as individuals but as Christians, too. It’s important to understand the struggles of our younger brothers and sisters so that we might be able to comfort them with the comfort that we, ourselves, have received from God.  Week 1: Dealing with “Adults These Days”  Text: Ephesians 4:1–4; Colossians 3:21  Topics: Parents, Children, Authoritarian, Authoritative, Generational Differences  Big Idea of the Message: Parents and other adults in teens’ lives can cause them to lose heart if they resort to fear-based leadership; because of this, this series begins by challenging “adults these days” before we talk about “kids these days.”  Application Point: The way we act toward teens in the midst of disagreement, the way we talk to them and hear them, will make a big impact in how they come to view God and the world.

Roar: Week 4

ROAR: Truth in a World of Opinions Week 4 Text: Acts 9:1-19 Topic: The Importance of Follow Up Big Idea of the Message: Once someone hears the truth, it’s important we’re there for them during their first steps toward discipleship. Ananias is one of the first Christians Paul encounters after his conversion. He prays for him, heals him, calls him brother, and gets him on his way to be baptized. He does this even though he knows Saul’s reputation. Ananias is a perfect model to Paul of what a Christian’s life of service should look like.

Roar: Week 2

ROAR: Truth in a World of Opinions Week 2  Text: Ezekiel 2:1-10; 3:5-7 Topic: Obedience Big Idea of the Message: Speak God’s truth even if no one listens. God warns Ezekiel ahead of time that no one will listen to his message, and no one will change. Ezekiel still delivers the message because the results weren’t up to him. He had no control over what would happen after he spoke on behalf of God. He only had control over his own obedience to God.

Roar: Week 3

April 28, 2024 • Pastor Jay Caron

ROAR: Truth in a World of Opinions Week 3 Text: Acts 17:22-31 Topic: Contextualizing the Message Big Idea of the Message: We must protect the integrity of the message while still adapting how we present it to our culture. Paul quotes and references the philosophers and thinkers that his audience knew and trusted. He did so while being respectful, and by using their arguments and ideas to point to Christ in an effective way. He used their culture to get people to understand the message of the gospel.

Tomorrow: Week 1

March 3, 2024

Tomorrow: Living in a World of Uncertainty This 4-week series addresses the perils and anxiety that comes with the uncertainty of our time. With the recent presidential election, Brexit, and constant threat of terrorism around the world, sometimes it's difficult not to be afraid. This sermon series guide discusses what the Bible says about our apprehension regarding the future, and how we can trust an unchanging God  in a time of unpredictability. Diving into the topics of persecution and worry, this series encourages believers to remain faithful in uncertain times, trusting God’s heart and sovereignty based on the promises of His Word. Week 1 Text: Isaiah 6:1-7 Topic: Sovereignty Big Idea: During a time of uncertainty in his nation’s history, Isaiah was comforted by a vision of God on His throne. When we recognize God’s sovereign  rule over every facet of our world, we can have peace in spite of the turmoil around us.

Fake: Part 1

Pastor Jay Caron

Fake Big Idea of the Series: This three-week series confronts the hypocrisy and temptation  of living in two worlds simultaneously: that of the church or Christian life and that of the  normal life. We will discover whether it is possible to live in both or if we must choose to  live in one or the other. Week 1 Text: Matthew 5:13–16 Topics: Salt, Light, Influence Big Idea of the Message: Our saltiness and light should extend beyond our church life. Application Point: To avoid hypocrisy, believers must allow their faith to affect the rest  of their life
