Wednesdays | 6:30PM | Classroom B | Sept. 11 - Oct. 30
If we are to love God and love everyone, it is critical to love ourselves. Yet
even in Christian communities the message is often to diminish ourselves
while we strive for perfect love for others. Whether it’s you or another person
you’re trying to love, we all fall short. We get trapped by fear or shame. We
may become more critical or aggressive. Some of us like to withdraw, stuff our
feelings and distract ourselves until the problem goes away.
In our class we will study three components of self-compassion: mindfulness,
the human condition and kindness. We will also do reflective exercises relating
to each component, share in discussions and take some time for private
journaling to encourage a deeper understanding of how we can suffer less and
love more.
We will meet in Classroom B
