Wisdom and Warnings in the Last Days

A Letter of Jude

Wisdom and Warnings, Pt. 8

October 1, 2023 • Pastor Jeremy Dente • Jude 24–25, Romans 16:25–27, 2 Peter 3:18

As we conclude with our study of Jude's letter, we examine the power of his closing words to the church, offering us a perspective of God that puts the rest of his letter in right perspective. All things in our lives as Christians and as the collective body of Christ should culminate in right doxology. Our lives should be a living doxology because of who God is, what he's done, and how he continues to work in us and through us to this day. And so despite the dangers that continually face the Church, and despite all who seek to destroy her from within, as long as we continue to stand on the foundations of the faith, we can look forward to a bright future. To God be all the glory, majesty, dominion, and authority...before all time and now and forever. Amen!

Wisdom and Warnings, Pt. 7

September 24, 2023 • Pastor Jeremy Dente • Jude 17–23, Philippians 2:12–13, 2 Timothy 3:16–17, 2 Peter 3:13–18

As we near the end of Jude's letter, the apostle gives us one final warning and description of false teachers. And then he moves into a discussion on how genuine born-again Christians can respond by keeping ourselves in the love of God. Jude offers three ways to accomplish that - growing in sound doctrine, growing in Spirit-filled prayer, and growing in our ability to wait well for the second-coming of Jesus Christ. And then Jude discusses three ways in which we can help others avoid the pitfalls of buying into false teaching, whether they're struggling with doubts or outright sin and rebellion against God.

Wisdom and Warnings, Pt. 5

September 10, 2023 • Pastor Jeremy Dente • Jude 5–7, Romans 1:19–32, Deuteronomy 1:19–46

Jude's letter is a masterful reminder of the common dangers and pitfalls that have befallen God's people when they lack discernment and fall for the lies and schemes of false teachers and apostate leaders. In verses 5-7, we are reminded that Jesus himself is responsible for all judgment in the OT, and he will be the one to judge the world in the future because of unbelief, rejection of his authority, and sexual immorality.

Wisdom and Warnings, Pt. 4

September 3, 2023 • Pastor Jeremy Dente • 2 Timothy 3:1–5, Jude 4, 2 Peter 2:1–3

In this message, we take Jude's words seriously as we learn the characteristics of false teachers who creep into our churches unnoticed because of unsuspecting Christians. Therefore, Jude offers us signs to look out for, and particularly the characteristics of false teachers - they are ungodly, they pervert the gospel, and they deny the authority of Christ and his word.

Wisdom and Warnings, Pt. 3

August 27, 2023 • Pastor Glenn Moore • Philippians 1:27, Jude 3, 1 Timothy 6:11–21, 1 Corinthians 9:24–27

In this message, we consider 3 ways in which we can contend for the Christian faith - through holy living, disciplined living, and unified living.

Wisdom and Warnings, Pt. 2

August 20, 2023 • Pastor Jeremy Dente • Jude 3

In part 2 of our series on the letter of Jude, we are introduced to the primary purpose of Jude's letter - to contend for the faith. This is not a personal and individual faith, but the one holy, catholic, apostolic Christian faith that was once for all delivered to the saints through God's revealed word - the Bible.

Wisdom and Warnings, Pt. 1

August 13, 2023 • Pastor Jeremy Dente • Jude 1–2

In our introduction into the book of Jude, we take an in depth look at the apostle's unique introduction as the half-brother of Jesus, and how we are to foundationally see ourselves as born-again believers, namely that we are called, beloved, and kept in Christ!
