Knowing who you are in Christ

SESSION 3

Although most leadership literature focuses on what to do as a leader, the most effective Christian leaders must know who they are and who they are following. That involves knowing where you are in your spiritual development.

While godly leaders might be able to utilize a few tips from books on secular leadership, the quality of their leadership depends primarily on their walk with Christ and their identity in Him.

Uncommon Leadership 201

SESSION 1 The purpose of Uncommon Leadership 201 is to establish the foundation for our ministry in God’s Word and God’s work. While Uncommon Leadership 101 spoke to the “what” and “how” of uncommon leadership, Uncommon Leadership 201 will speak more to the “why.” Why is God’s Word central to everything we do? Why is Christ-centered leadership necessary in the life of the leader? And what is the biblical view of change and growth?

SESSION 2 GOAL OF THIS SESSION - Embrace a higher view of Scripture leading to personal and ministry application. There is nothing common about the Bible. It is unparalleled and unmatched because it is God’s divine revelation of Himself. Simply put, the Word of God is a treasury of the words of God. God is living and active, therefore His Word is “living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit; of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). God’s Word is powerful. It convicts, corrects, and comforts. It provides help, hope, and healing. It communicates who God is and calls us to follow Him.

Uncommon Walk

SESSION 4 Creating urgency to cooperate with God's desire to transform you. By far, the most common New Testament image of living the Christian life is a walk. The theme of walking echoes throughout Ephesians: “Walk in love” (5:2), “Walk as children of light” (5:8), “Look carefully then how you walk” (5:15). Walking depicts the course of an individual’s whole life. It is a dominant, inspired metaphor in Scripture and a picture of what our relationship with God should look like. God has invited you to walk with Him on the journey of life. If you are ever going to be the person God intended you to be, your focus must be on the next step—just that step and nothing else.
