25 - Idolatry Of The Heart

1 Corinthians 10:14-22

September 26, 2021 • Pastor Ronald H. Gann • 1 Corinthians 10:14–22

Like Solomon, who worshipped the idols of his many wives but simultaneously praised the God of his fathers, some in the church in Corinth had a divided heart. Their syncretism (mixing two religions into one) threatened their spiritual viability. To the Corinthians, Paul warns that true believers cannot, and should not, worship the God of the Scripture and, at the same time, choose to make their bed with idols. What fellowship does light have with darkness? Or, as he would later write, "What agreement has the temple of God with idols?" (2 Corinthians 6:16). God expects whole-hearted allegiance from those who bear His name.
