We should do whatever it takes to get happy and stay happy. At least that is what our culture tells us every single day.

But is this pursuit of pleasure working? Is it really what we are made to pursue?

With the help of an embittered Teacher, Ecclesiastes teaches us the paradox of pleasure: the more we pursue it, the more we will lose it. This isn’t to say God wants us to be miserable. Quite the opposite. We were made for something so much more than pleasure.
